Hi all. So I’ve been reading “The Woman in the Window for a little over a month and I’m only 12% into it. I’m throwing in the towel. Here’s the review I posted on Goodreads:
Title: “The Woman in the Window”
Author: A.J. Finn
PUBLISHER: Harper Collins Publishers
Synopsis:Anna Fox lives alone and is a recluse in her New York City home. She spends most of her days tossing back way too much wine, recalling happier times with her husband and daughter and watching old black and white films. Also while to pass her time she watches her neighbors through her windows with her camera.
When the Russels move in they seem like the perfect family: a father, mother and teenage son. But when Anna sees something out of her window one night, something well, that she quiet frankly shouldn’t have. Her world begins to crumble & its shocking secrets are laid bare.
What is real? What is imagined? Who is in danger? Who is in control? In this gripping, thrill ride of a tale, no one & nothing is what it seems.
Rating: 2 start and a DNF (Did Not Finish)
I’ve been reading this book since February 4th on and off. I find it too dry and not gripping pulling me in enough. I can’t relate to the main character at all so that doesn’t help. I give this book a generous 2 stars. I don’t understand all the hype. I’m sorry it’s a DNF (Did Not Finish), I might try again later down the road.
I’ve talked to someone who pushed through all the way to page 100 and that’s apparently when the story starts picking up. I couldn’t relate to the characters at all and it didn’t have enough ‘grip you by your shirt’ material. I need a book that is engaging and grips me from the very beginning. I’m sorry Mr. Finn but I just can’t get into it, maybe somewhere later down the road. But otherwise doesn’t seem like my cup of tea.
